MekaLekaHi, MekaHineyHo

That's what Jambi on Pee-Wee's Playhouse always said when a wish came true. My wish, is that I will enjoy my week in Hawaii and post-week at home working on our kitchen.
I'm sure I'll have a great time. We've been planning this trip for an entire year, so I'm almost Hawaii'd out - and I'm not even there yet - but I am looking forward to the trip, and spending time with all of our friends and family travelling with us.
Shrimp truck eateries, NorthShore admiring, helicopter tours, Pearl Harbor, snorkelling and a Purdue vs. Hawaii football game to top it all off.
What am I forgetting? My snorkel gear's packed, my boots tied tight. I hope I don't get in a fight.
Hopefully I tied up all of my loose ends at work today. Making calls and planning for a two week hiatus is hectic. At least I won't be tied to this desk until the beginning of December. By then, our friends Mike and Rachel will have become parents by then ..dang. Time flies.
I'm most looking forward to not having any plans while we're on Oahu. I like those kind of trips - where you're there with nothing scheduled. No plans, and nothing to rush to.
It'll be my first flight in ten years, and my first flight that's longer than two hours. Should be fun. I'm taking Truman Capote's "In Cold Blood," Frank Miller's "Batman:Year One" and "Fables" books one and two. The first because, like most classics, or oft-talked of books, I've not read them. The second two are comics and should be read instead of scoffed at as superhero dredge.
Anyway, I did listen to a TON of music over the last couple of days ...

The Beach Boys, "Pet Sounds"
Black Mountain, "Black Mountain"
Yo La Tengo, "I'm not Afraid of you, and I will Beat Your Ass"
Thom Yorke, "The Eraser"
Tilly and the Wall, "Wild Like Children"
The Wrens, "The Meadowlands"
The Weakerthans, "Left & Leaving"
My Morning Jacket, "Z"
The Pixies, "Bossanova"
Cat Power, "You are Free"
Iron & Wine w/ Calexico, "In The Reins"
Miles Davis, "Miles Ahead"

I'd normally write something about the music here, but I'm really ready to leave the building. Maybe I'll follow up tomorow before we leave with something short about one of them ... likely the Pixies - I've been on a big kick lately.
